The Future of #WomanTalk

It is in hopes that #WomanTalk will develop into a resource that viewers can use to learn about and understand the various interpretations of the gender spectrum in relation to the term "woman". Each #WomanTalk Story participant has a unique perspective and outlook; This could possibly inspire or create a discussion between viewers about social change and gender equality/inclusivity. My audience also has the opportunity to potentially gain new perspectives on this subject by listening to and learning about how others within the film perceive gender and the gender spectrum, and the research and social constructs surrounding it. This information can also be shared and passed on to others, including individuals within academic communities, social activist groups, etc.

There are many stories to tell and far more experiences to share. #WomanTalk is always eager and ready to provide a platform for self-identified women to talk about the importance of individual gender identity and understanding. The hashtag also creates an opportunity to expand #WomanTalk's reach across various social media platforms and build upon the current discussion by enabling others to contribute their own stories and thoughts.

The video portion of this project can continue to expand by interviewing new participants, or possibly even exploring new aspects related to the topic of identity and the term “woman”. This would of course also be done with the academic and written portion of this project and website as well, so as to continuously add and grow this project over time. My research could also begin to analyze different areas of this topic such as looking at different gender identities or alternative areas of feminist research and methodology. #WomanTalk’s model could possibly be used as a model for continuing to engage with this topic, and stories and experiences related to it.

Both the videos and website developed for #WomanTalk can also be expanded beyond these platforms by being incorporated onto social media channels such as Facebook and Instagram. Not only would this help progress the reach of each video and this topic, but would again allow more photos, content, and research to be posted for viewers. There are many photos of the production process that were taken while filming, which could give users a “behind-the-scenes” glimpse of how each video was made. This would enhance my methods of storytelling for #WomanTalk beyond just video and text. Social media also enables #WomanTalk to connect directly with the platforms used by each participant, as well as their organizations or businesses.
